• deepen community support for the healthy development of children
• strengthen the community tradition of self-help
• build bridges between generations and between the middle class and poor
• assist and galvanize the community around specific goals for children
• identify, train, nurture, link, and empower young effective servant-leaders
• prevent youth from entering the juvenile justice system or incarceration
• pull families out of poverty
• prevent child abuse and neglect
